Anna Selbdritt

1518
Stained glass
Frauenkirche, Munich, Germany

This is an example of the Anna Selbdritt iconographic type, St. Anne holds her daughter Mary on one knee and her grandson Jesus on the other. The image presents her as a youthful mother, unlike later works that push her age back considerably. Most Anna Selbdritts do not have a crown on Mary, but some do.

I have not identified the kneeling donor or the bishop standing on the left.
